📰News: Adobe Photoshop Unveils Powerful AI Feature for "Uncropping" Images

Adobe AI Feature

Adobe is enhancing its Firefly generative AI models by introducing Generative Expand, a new feature in Photoshop that enables users to expand images beyond their original boundaries. Available exclusively in the beta edition of Photoshop, this fresh feature grants users the ability to resize and expand images effortlessly using the Crop tool to enlarge the canvas.

By selecting the "Generate" button found in Photoshop's contextual taskbar, Generative Expand populates the additional white space with AI-generated content that seamlessly integrates with the original image. As per the details provided by Adobe, "Generative Expand allows you to extend your canvas and achieve any imaginable look for your image."

Additionally, they emphasized the following points:

  1. Whether with or without a text prompt, users can incorporate generated content into the canvas through Generative Expand. However, if a prompt is used, the expanded images will include the content mentioned in the prompt.

  2. The generated content is added as a new layer in Photoshop, giving users the option to discard it if they find it unsatisfactory.

  3. When using a prompt with Generative Expand, filters are applied to the text prompts to minimize the creation of images that might contain inappropriate content.

  4. Alongside the introduction of Generative Expand, Adobe announced the upcoming support for Photoshop's Firefly-powered text-to-image features. These features have been widely used, generating more than 900 million images in over 100 languages, including Arabic, Czech, Greek, and Thai.
