As TikTok continues to make waves in the world of short videos and social networking, it now aims to challenge music streaming giants like Apple Music and Spotify and disrupt the music streaming landscape by launching TikTok Music, a subscription-based service available in Brazil and Indonesia. This innovative platform enables users to connect their TikTok accounts effortlessly, unlocking a world of synchronized, downloadable, and shareable songs. Notably, the service features an extensive library of music from major record labels such as Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music.
In Brazil, TikTok Music will be available for a monthly subscription fee of $3.49, while iOS users in Indonesia can access the service for $3.25, and Android users will be charged $2.96 for the first year, followed by $3.25. Although TikTok Music does not offer a free membership option, users can enjoy a one-month free trial to explore the platform's features. With a Shazam-like functionality for song identification, users can listen to full versions of viral TikTok songs, receive personalized music recommendations, access real-time lyrics, collaborate on playlists with friends, import their music library, and search for songs using lyrics.
When questioned about the possibility of introducing the streaming service in the United States, TikTok responded that they currently have no information to share. “We are excited about the opportunities for TikTok Music, for music fans, artists, and the industry, but we don’t have any more news to share on future plans,” the spokesperson said in an email.
